๐Ÿค A Collaboration of Buddhist Hongshi College & the International Network of Engaged Buddhists (INEB)

The Crises Facing Our World

Many regions, especially in South and Southeast Asia, struggle with lasting peace and social justice. The impact of capitalism, authoritarianism, and globalization continues to shape societies, affecting economic and social stability.

  • Structural violence & injustice
  • Economic disparities and imbalanced development
  • Environmental degradation due to overconsumption
  • Erosion of community values and traditions
  • Social divisions making it harder for youth to thrive

What Can Buddhist Thinkers and Social Activists Do?

Throughout history, Buddhist teachings have provided pathways for social justice and transformation. Various modern Buddhist movements aim to integrate these teachings into practical solutions, such as:

  • Dhammic Socialism (Bhikkhu Buddhadasa)
  • Meritism vs. Capitalism (Asoke Network)
  • Critical Thinking in Buddhism (Ajaan Sulak Sivaraksa)
  • Gross National Happiness (Bhutanโ€™s Buddhist Model)
  • Peace & Ecological Action (Karmapa, Thich Nhat Hanh)
