And here is my token for you
by write me
I want to, from now on, do things
out of love and for the sake of love.
And so, when I face a blank page,
I will not force words out
until my nose bleeds, or
until my blood runs dry.
I will go for a walk,
and hopefully, during the walk,
I will finally find you.
And here is my token for you. Because
when I see the cherry blossoms in full-bloom,
even if I will be reminded of the promise I could
not keep and the guilt that has
consumed me, I shall also be
reminded of you.
Let us get soaked in the sunlight
under the tree
when our paths
finally meet.
And perhaps you’ll say to me: see,
little one, how long you have walked
and how far you have grown.
And then, we will finally
have some stories to share. I will
tell you about the ghosts who
haunted me in my old dorm
and the Doppelgänger who
lay herself beside me in the
apartment without a bed frame.
And perhaps you will tell me
about your days and complain
about the sweltering heat and let me know
about the words you intended to
but did not get to write
me. Because
I know we like
scary and fun
stories. Because
you know we have tried
hard and enough. Because
we know we are two souls,
a little ill,
a little odd,
a little tired.
And then, I can
tell you at last, how the time
we have shared
has always been, to me,
a precious memory
I want to carry
into my afterlife,
even if I did not
believe that there
was one for me.
Alas, we can
rest our weary feet at last,
at a bench we found,
giving our mundane lives
we have cherished to the utmost
a little laugh.
So, until then, let me give this token for you,
out of love and for the sake of love.
One day, I want to be
as sure as you are,
that there is still time,
that our paths are not parallel lines,
and that despite
all the guilt I carry,
I have grown so much.
I have changed.
At last, let me take the time we have
to take a little walk for you.
One day, I’ll be
as sure as you are,
that you are waiting
for me on the other side.
