Discovery of Ashoka: The story of Indian Archaeology & History with Mangesh Dahiwale

In the third session of the Buddhist Intellectual Collective India Archeology Lecture series, Mangesh Dahiwale (INEB Executive Committee member) tells the story of the rediscovery of the great Indian Buddhist emperor Ashok and his influence through archeaology and Indian history.

Buddhist heritage would be lost if Ashoka did not create his monuments. However, Ashoka himself was forgotten. The story of rediscovering Ashoka is the story of the rediscovering Buddhism and hence the early roots of India itself. This lecture goes into how Ashoka was unearthed in a nuanced way.
